Alexander I. Kozlov, P.E.
Senior Strategist/ Construction Management Professional/ Executive Trainer

Alex Kozlov is a skilled leader, resourceful manager and proficient mechanical engineer with over 24 years of international experience in the engineering, construction and facilities management industry…working primarily in private enterprise but also for governmental agencies and in the armed services. He has a highly successful track record in construction business management dominated by a bottom line approach of maximizing profits through improvements in productivity and cost reductions.

Client Services Mr. Kozlov serves MacDonald-Bedford’s clients as a Construction Management Professional, Senior Strategist, and Executive Trainer. For Macdonald-Bedford, he is responsible for overseeing its strategic and business planning efforts and acts as a Principal-in Charge of key construction management contracts.

Alex Kozlov, after starting his career as a Construction Manager, has served in increasingly responsible positions from setting up and managing separate profit centers to serving as the General Manager of a full-service mechanical contractor. For a profitable project management start-up that realized $3 million in revenues within two years, Mr. Kozlov was responsible for developing and managing its most profitable sector, the Defense and NASA program. In addition, he oversaw the firm’s budgeting and financing operations instituting real time business systems and cost control measures which were adopted throughout the company. During the war in the Balkans, Mr. Kozlov served as the Director of Engineering and Housing, leading a force, which included expatriate labor, in the management of over 300 fast-track, politically sensitive projects that entailed host-nation leases (which he coordinated), stringent environmental policies, design-build execution and contract management with host nation contractors. During the current occupation of Iraq, COL Kozlov coordinated, relocated and integrated two corporate elements, located 50 miles apart, into a new 60,000 sq. ft. facility that was planned and constructed under his leadership. The groups that Alex Kozlov has led vary in size from a handful of people up to 400 personnel and with budgets over $100 million annually. His experience includes infrastructure projects and a variety of heavy commercial, high technology and office facilities – most having major environmental considerations – and in a wide range of climates from the Pacific Rim to Eastern Europe to the Middle East. As an Army Engineer Reserve Officer, he commanded an engineering unit of over 70 engineer officers responsible for facilities in 13 western states, Eastern Europe and in the South Pacific.

Alex Kozlov is known for his dynamic leadership style, dedication to excellence, high productivity and a forthright stance on all matters. He is especially skilled in conceptualizing the myriad of technical factors in a project and integrating disparate entities into well coordinated and singularly focused teams. With exceptional business acumen, superior deductive abilities and the ability to present cogent and well-organized solutions, he brings an excellent blend of human, conceptual and technical skills to achieving client objectives.

Mr. Kozlov, a licensed Professional Engineer, has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and is completing a Master of Science in Architecture from the California Polytechnic Institute. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College.
